FREE childcare for 3 & 4 year olds

From September many working parents of 3 & 4 year olds can get up to 30 hours a week of free childcare.

That’s up to 1,140 hours of free childcare a year!

If you’re working and your child will be 3 or 4 by 31 August apply now so your child can start in September.

Don’t miss out, apply by mid-August at the latest to ensure you have an approval code by 31 August! Missing the deadline means your child can’t qualify until January 2018.

Location: HQ, 197 Eyre Street, Sheffield, S1 3FG

An opportunity has arisen within our ICT team for an Applications Developer/Programmer which will be based within our Headquarters in Sheffield. The post holder will be responsible for assisting the ICT section in developing innovative ICT solutions and systems to meet the needs of the organisation and to provide general support to members of the ICT section as required.

Duties will include:

 Designing and developing SQL databases

 Developing web based systems using a variety of tools;

 Determining design methodologies and tool sets;

 Designing and conducting tests.

 Preparing documentation to provide guidance to users of systems;

 Providing technical advice and guidance to users;

 Assisting in the maintenance and support of specialised software packages.

Key to this role is the ability to think laterally and solve complex problems logically and to work constructively as part of the wider ICT team. You will need extensive knowledge and understanding of Window client/server operating systems and in-depth knowledge of computer systems/networks and a range of software applications. Significant experience in web Programming and developing systems using JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, ASP, XML, SQL etc., and software installation and troubleshooting is essential.

You must also be proficient in Adobe Photoshop. You will need GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent, a BS in Computer Science or related field, or significant equivalent experience. You will need to have examples of web design and code in your portfolio and the ability to hit the ground running.

This citywide consultation gathered the views of 1902 parents and carers of pre-school and primary-aged children on a wide range of topics and issues.

Producing the report of the findings has taken time because we felt it was important to be able to include some feedback to parents on how their views will be used. As you may be aware, throughout the consultation period, we badged our survey as “More Than Just Ticking A Box!”

You will see from the report that we have been able to state a number of examples of how services will use the results… but we want more of these examples.

Salary: £18,500 – £21,000 (dependent on experience)

Full-time – 37 hours per week

Ashiana supports Black, Minority Ethnic and Refugee clients who have experienced domestic violence or who have been trafficked into the UK for the purposes of sexual exploitation or domestic slavery.

We would like to recruit full-time workers to provide outreach support to victims of trafficking who are living in the wider community. The support will be provided to clients living in the following regions:

South Yorkshire

West Yorkshire

North West / other regions (essential car-user)

East Midlands

Successful candidates will be locality-based.

You should be aware of the realities and impacts of trafficking, and the legislation affecting this group of people.

Consultation – Vehicle Idling in Sheffield. Have your say

New guidance from health experts at the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) suggests that those who are very sensitive to harm from air pollution should be protected from the effects of air pollution.

This may include the creation and/or enforcement of byelaws asking people to switch their engine off, for example, when dropping off and picking up children outside schools. This is called “no vehicle idling” and could extend to a number of locations across the city and a number of vehicles including private vehicles, buses including school buses, taxis, public service vehicles and private fleets.

Since July 2017, traffic marshals in Westminster City Council have issued on-the-spot fines for those idling in “no idling” zones.

The Highway Code (Rule 123) already advises that drivers must not leave a stationary vehicle’s engine running unnecessarily on a public road.  If a vehicle is likely to remain stationary for…
