25 Jan

Miners

Councillors in West Ecclesfield have agreed to fund improvements to The Miners Welfare and Community building on Angram Road in High Green. The work is due to start in the very near future and will include:-

  • Painting of the doors, window frames and handrails.
  • New signage to the front and rear.
  • Installation of Wi Fi.

There is also scope to carry out some improvements to the interior of the building.

The following Community Groups are already using the Miners Welfare for their activities:-

  • Golden Days
  • Martial Arts
  • Tuesday Butty Club
  • Tai Chi
  • Line Dancing
  • High Hopes Drama Club
  • High Spirits Singers
  • Wheels in Motion

Hopefully when the improvements are completed more local community groups will be attracted to use The Miners Welfare.

If you would like more information or want to discuss this further with a Council Officer please email North@sheffield.gov.uk or ring 0114 205 3598.

Pavement resurfacing work is due to start on Stonecliffe Drive, Pennine View, Hollin Busk Lane, Hollin Busk Road & Princess Drive week commencing Monday 25 January for a period of 2 weeks. We will need to close the roads in order to carry out the work safely. As the work is a 2 or 3 stage process, the roads will only be closed on certain days over the work period.
The work will be carried out between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday only. Temporary road signs will be displayed five days before work starts, stating the dates of work and parking restrictions on your road.
Parking and access arrangements
There will be no on-street parking or vehicle access to properties on the roads we are working on, during working hours. Most roads will be open and on-street parking will be as normal at other times. Please let our on-site supervisor know if you need vehicle access to your property for urgent reasons. Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be available at all times.
Vehicles left on-street during restrictions may be towed away and you will need to pay a fee to have your vehicle released.
Please note that the schedule is heavily dependent on the weather and can be affected by unforeseen circumstances. Temporary road signs will be updated to reflect any changes.
